Our Team
Patricia DeGennaro, President and Founder
Patricia (Tricia) DeGennaro proposed the creation of the Institute
for Integrated International Policy because US Foreign Policy
establishment is in dire need of change. Today's complex
issues require wider participation between the community
and their leaders to create long-term, integrated, peaceful
and objective national
global policy solutions.
In addition it is more urgent than ever for us to develop working institutions
that encourage civil and military cooperation.
As a professor, writer, analyst and
consultant, Tricia has first hand experience with international
policy and its challenges.
Her qualifications include work as a Senior Research Fellow for the Center
for the Study of Democracy at Queens University in Canada
and an adjunct associate professor at New York University’s Center
for Global Affairs where she teaches courses on US Foreign
Policy, Military Affairs, National Security Policy, and the
War on Terrorism.
Tricia capitalizes on over fifteen years of experience in international
relations and economic development. Her recent experience includes
traveling to Afghanistan as a consultant with Bearing Point.

She
has also consulted with the Director of National Intelligence Office,
Department of Homeland Security, The Conference Board, Fred
Friendly Seminars, World Bank, Senate Labor and
Human Resources Committee chaired by Senator Edward M. Kennedy,
and several organizations that support the Middle East Peace
Process. She spent four
years in Albania, initially as a Small and Medium Enterprise
Consultant with the Peace Corps followed by a contract
with the US Agency for
International Development. Regionally, Tricia continues to focus
on the Balkans and the Middle East where she travels often.
Tricia has published several articles on US
foreign policy and national security topics.
She has been an expert source
for the Washington Post as well as a guest on Fox’s Hannity and Colmes
and the O’Reilly Factor. She has also appeared on Al Jazeera and NPR’s
Leonard Lopate Show.
Ms. DeGennaro holds an MPA from Harvard University and
an MBA from George Washington University. She speaks fluent
Albanian and has a strong knowledge of Arabic, Italian and Spanish.

Laura Atkins - Director
Senior Advisor, Energy Technologies, Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries
Laura Atkins is an expert on energy supply and demand, alternative
energy, energy policy and the geopolitics of oil and other energy
resources. Ms. Atkins spent 20 years in the oil industry as a petroleum engineer
where
she held progressively more responsible positions in management
and international new business development. She has extensive international
experience having
worked in Latin America, China, India and the Middle East. After
leaving the oil industry, Ms. Atkins worked for three year for the Organization
of
Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) in Vienna Austria, where
she examined how new energy technology could affect future oil demand. She
also advised
OPEC on energy-related topics including energy policies of the
United States and China, the benefits of participation in greenhouse gas
reduction technologies,
and geopolitics. Ms. Atkins recently founded Atkins Energy Consulting,
which conducts integrated strategic analysis for the oil and gas industry
and works
with the new International Sustainable Energy Exchange. Ms. Atkins
holds a Master of Public Administration degree from the John
F Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University and a Bachelor of Science,
Chemical Engineering
from Tulane University.
J. Kirsten Busch - Director - Secretary
Vice President, Learning and Development, Teach for America
Kirsten Busch serves as Vice President of Learning & Development at Teach
For America. In this capacity she is responsible for driving learning among
staff members and across the organization. Previously, Busch served as Executive
Director of the Cahn Fellows Program at Teachers College, Columbia University,
where she created and managed a leadership development program for New York
City's highest performing school principals. Prior to that, Busch worked
as a management consultant with the Mitchell Madison Group, advising client
teams on a range of strategy development, geographic expansion and new product
development initiatives throughout Europe and the United States; and with
the World Bank Group, leading strategic planning and educational reform initiatives
with Ministries of Education in Latin America and the Caribbean. Busch has
also served as the senior education policy advisor to the New York City Council's
Education Committee. She received her B.A. in English Language and Literature
from University of Virginia and also holds an M.B.A. from Yale University
and an M.A. in International Education Development from Columbia University.
Stephen Hayes - Director - Treasurer
Senior Vice President, The Carey Group LLC
Prior to joining The Carey Group LLC, Mr. Hayes was Vice President of Real Estate Development at the New York City Economic Development Corporation (EDC). In his time at EDC (1994-2005), Mr. Hayes was responsible for many of EDC's highest profile and largest projects, including the development of office space and corporate parks, luxury as well as affordable housing developments, cultural facility development, retail developments, and a variety of community development planning studies. At EDC, Mr. Hayes was responsible for leading real estate development project teams, creating public and private partnerships and managing high profile and multi-dimensional projects. Mr. Hayes has professional degrees in real estate development and architecture from Harvard University, landscape architecture from Cornell University and urban planning from Columbia University.
